Consistency isn’t something the Republican Party or the Tea Partiers is getting right at the moment. You see they are supposed to be for small (sometimes too small) government. They think dependency is next to slavery, like “true independence” (absolute independence) actually exists.

Recently, in an effort to take the blame away from British Petroleum and put it on Obama, the right wing has been calling for “big government”. They are also screaming for “more government” along the border, and more government involving anti-terrorism efforts and anti-LGBT (anti-human rights) efforts.

But these are “small government” people so they are calling for small government as well:

The Tea Party and Freedomworks (the corporate backers of the Tea Party) in Gwinnet, Georgia are aiming their crosshairs on people having to pay for the government to pick up the trash from their homes.

Apparently, the corporate right wingers want their garbage picked up, but they don’t want to HAVE TO pay for it.

Keith Olbermann introduces the portion of the program aimed at the Tea Party as the “something for nothing crowd”.

What is it with right wingers? They want more border control, but no taxes. They want wars, but no taxes. They want more law enforcement, but no taxes. They want vouchers, but no taxes. They want the federal government to clean up the BP, Halliburton spill, but no taxes. They want governmental services like streets, libraries, Medicare, garbage pickup etc., but they don’t want taxes.

So okay, garbage pickup won’t be taxed; it will be paid for by individual households.

But no…right wingers aren’t happy with that either. They just don’t want to pay for it.

The something for nothing crowd.

Less government equals less taxes, but no one expects you to understand this concept. Our property taxes through mileage rates pay for fire, police etc. Something else no one expects you to understand.

In fact you liberals argue facts, and one fact is your democratic prez is the one adding troops to the war, not conservatives or republicans, waited to long to take action in the gulf, but you keep listening to your savior olbermann. I would have left him out, if you want to be taken seriously.

Maybe you don't understand that asking for less government and then asking for more government is idiotic...and that type of idiocity is fairly common among conservatives.

So you are one of the people that wants less government...so do you want BP to clean up everything or do you want the U.S. government to? Do you want more or less law enforcement around the border? Do you want more or less people rounding up illegal immigrants? Do you want the government to discriminate against gays by stopping them from getting married, or do you want them to enjoy the same rights as straights? Do you want government to get involved in abortions or stay out of the whole mess? Do you want government to collect your trash, clean your water, get rid of your sewage?

"In fact you liberals argue facts, and one fact is your democratic prez is the one adding troops to the war"

With the support of most conservatives...are you saying you don't support the troops? Who was it that started that one war in Iraq? Bush!

Remember all them protestors that took to the street to protest the war in Iraq? Were you supporting those protestors or were you, conservative, supporting the killings?

"less government means less taxes"...really, then why did I pay more taxes under Bush than I did before him and I do after him? Considering I actually make more money now than I did during Bush.

You don't want small government...you just want what you want and don't want to pay for it.

"Pick up my garbage, but don't tax me"..."Patrol my borders, but don't tax me"..."Kill people in other countries (even countries that haven't attacked us), but don't tax me"..."clean up the oil from the Gulf, but don't tax me"..."give tax credits to the biggest companies in the world, but don't tax me"..."give tax credits to small businesses, but don't tax me"..."gimme this. gimme that. do this. do that. But don't make me pay for it"

You know what, you sure do a lot of writing, not to convey a message. Do you just like hearing yourself or what.

You don't want small government...you just want what you want and don't want to pay for it.

Wow, I bet that statement made you tired, maybe you can get the government to give you an extra couple of hundred dollars this week when you pick up your hand out....

way to not answer any of the questions in my comment...as always.

In some cases it would be political suicide to "not" want more government intervention, for example in natural disasters like Katrina and the BP Spill or un-natural disasters like the mining incident recently. Although, I am liberal at heart, I do understand the necessity for the opposition to be on the "left" side when they have to. Shall we call it compromise, without being compromising?

I do get what you are saying, and perhaps none of us are totally one or the other, which is why the centrist position is so comfortable for politicians. I read an interesting quote on some news article about the California gubinatorial race now. They said whoever gets nominated on the Republican side will now set out until November to show how moderate they really are, which was the opposite while campaigning for their party nomination.

my understanding of politics are a bit different...I don't see left and right as much as I see coporatists and politicians that try to work for the people...

A centrist on the Democrats side is mostly just another name for a coporatist...and all but a couple of people on the Republican side are corporatists. There aren't really too many people that are working for "the people". And that's sad.

There are things that only government can do..but the extremists on the right just don't ever want to admit it...even as they call for more government they won't admit that they're asking for more government...one of those extremists being pollard.
