Recently, the Florida lawyer Scott Rothstein was sentenced to 50 years in prison on charges of running a scam game from his law office. The clever-minded Scott Rothstein defrauded investors out of their 1.2 million dollars savings according to the federal prosecutors.

Initially, the lawyers of Scott Rothstein appealed for a sentence of 30 years on the count of being overly cooperative to the prosecutors after the investigation. The lawyers prosecuting Scott Rothstein asked for 40 years imprisonment. The final verdict of the judge stretched the imprisonment period to 50 years for Scott Rothstein. This is still less for Scott Rothstein considering there were five separate cases of felony and the maximum allowed period of imprisonment is 100 years, up to the discretion of the judge.

The sentencing of Scott Rothstein to 50 years in prison is a punishment for his thievery and also some consolation for the victims who were cheated out of their hard earned money, according to the statement of a United States attorney.
