Pakistan is facing acute shortage of electricity (2,000 Megawatt ) these days. The shortage is attributed to the Musharraf regime of 8 years that did not started any new power generation project for 8 years. The 6 hours of down time in the whole country including capital city Islamabad results in 25% of the productivity loss of the nation.

Along with the troubled citizens living without electricity; Industry in Pakistan is a major sufferer. The question arises in a competitive global economy how a country's industry can compete by loosing 25% of productivity on daily basis. Especially when we are neighbors to China and India two of the world fastest growing economies.

Just describing IT industry here. There is no electricity between 11:00 AM to 12:00 AM and 3:00 PM to 4:00 PM during the 9 to 6 working time. Especially the industry that have to develop products in competition to youtube; google search, YAHOO News, facebook have to work without electricity in Pakistan.

This also shows the competence and foresight of the leadership. The leaders have top think at least 25 years to assure a nation's existence in the competitive world.
