6 Driving Habits that Guzzle Gas:
1. Speeding away from a green light - coming down hard on the accelerator increases the amount of gas you send to the engine, and unnecessarily so.
2. Racing up to red lights - the less you push the gas pedal, the less gas you expend. It's that simple.
3. Speeding on the highway - know the fuel efficiency of your car. Driving just 10 mph above the speed limit can reduce your car's efficiency.
4. Tail-gating - quickly accelerating and then suddenly braking costs more gas than keeping a safe distance and braking slowly when necessary.
5. Driving at a standstill - a car expends less gas in starting up than it does in sitting idle.
6. Using your car instead of your feet - for short distances, a jog or a bike ride could save you a few dollars worth of gas. And it's good exercise, too!
