U.S. VETS - Las Vegas outreaches to homeless veterans

Las Vegas, NV

"Thanks to Harry Reid's leadership, the Senate just overcame partisan gridlock to fund our Troops in battle."

I received this text yesterday afternoon and was very pleased to read it. I immediately hit the Internet to look up what had taken place and was happy to find out that this was factual information. With our Nevada primaries right around the corner set for the first week of June, there is plenty of heat on the candidates and what all they truly stand for. It is nice to know that Senator Reid has our Troops at the very top of his priority list.

I have been recently invited to help work on behalf of a charity event that will be taking place here in Las Vegas in July that is benefiting Veterans Outreach. The Red Carpet Celebrity Event being held at Ceasers Palace on July 10th and Community weekend that is being put together is an awesome project that is raising funds to build a Wounded and Homeless Veterans Ranch, as well as to raise additional funds for Veterans Outreach and pack care-packages to send over to our Troops over-seas. What an awesome opportunity for the community of Las Vegas at large to help out and support our Veterans and our Soldiers! I immediately jumped in to help out in any way I could with this event. Who wouldn't want to help out? After all, it is benefiting those who need help the most, our Soldiers. On any given day across the Country you will find over 200,000 homeless Veterans - and this is shameful and disgusting. Anything that can be done to help and aid those who willingly sacrifice their very lives to protect and serve our Country we should all be willing to help and do, especially those who seek to serve in public office, at least this one opinionated reporter believes so.

So, when I signed on to help out this charitable event, I picked up the phone and I called up the politicians. Senator Reid of course couldn't wait to help out because it is a cause that is meaningful, our Troops, our Wounded and Homeless Vets. His heart always seems to be in the right place, and the calls were put in motion for charitable dollars to be put forth. He never ceases to amaze me, our Senator with his caring and compassion. The man has a genuine heart.

Even Sue Lowden's camp, although no promises of donations have been made they took calls and stated they would be calling back and would be definitely interested in donating something. They seemed sincere.

The shocking part of my day, was the call to Senate hopeful Danny Tarkanian's Campaign. I spoke with his campaign manager Brian Seitchik and told him about the event, told him about the Wounded and Homeless Vets, explained and for the most part was put into a position to near shamelessly beg and was told that "No financial commitments could be made to anything until after the 8th of June because our focus is solely on June 8th."

I couldn't believe it. I only called Brian because I had left 3 unreturned messages on Danny's cell phone. It is so unlike Danny to not get involved, but then I guess when all you care about is becoming the next Senator and beating Senator Reid, it begins to make sense. I am very disappointed personally because I like Danny Tarkanian and it is seems so out of character for him to put his campaign and winning something for himself above a cause like helping to raise money to benefit Veterans Outreach and our Wounded and Homeless Veterans. It is a sad day when politics and becoming a politician are all that really matter to people.

I will let you know via updates who steps up and helps out with this worthy cause across the city of Las Vegas as the month moves along. In the mean time voters, pay attention. If you are one who donates regularly to the Veterans causes be aware that Team Tark will only consider giving after they know the outcome of the Primaries.

What a disappointment.

**UPDATE**

I was just contacted by Bob Sharp, the Veterans Representative for Senator Harry Reid to let me know that he will be attending the event on July 10th and they are very much looking forward to doing all they can to do be of help for this very worthy cause!

Again, Nevada voters, please pay attention!! There are those politicians who actually care about people and those who only care about getting themselves elected. It is those who take the time to give back that we should all be paying attention to, wouldn't you agree?

I personally would like to extend a very heartfelt thank you to Senator Harry Reid for his continuing support and generosity for our Veterans and our Troops.
