Honda car plants shut down production

A strike of workers at four Honda plants in China is being described as the biggest industrial action ever in the country.

That description comes from the official China Daily.

It said 1,900 workers went on strike Thursday after negotiations between management and workers over higher wages collapsed. Kyodo said the strike began at a parts plant.

“As a result, the entire China operations of Honda Motor, Japan’s second-largest automaker, have been at a standstill this week,” The China Daily said.

The plants make the Accord and Odyssey.

Honda had no “timetable” for resuming production.

I didn't know people were allowed to strike in China. I hope they get the increase in wages.

Communism in China is slowly becoming a kind of "soft socialism" exhibiting a mixed economy with state run corporations and banks working hand-in-hand with free enterprise production. Let's just hope their rise of an "organized" working class doesn't turn a "Great Leap Forward" into a swift slide backwards. Imagine Ludlow, Colorado or the Everett Massacre on the scale of Tienamin Square?! Lest we forget our own history with regards to "organized labour"! :-(
