Symbaloo 2.0 is simpler, easier and more social.
With Symbaloo 2.0, the interface to create new webmixes has been significantly improved. Adding tiles is easier and webmixes are easier to edit. Creators can keep their webmixes updated even after others start to use them. Through the forum you can interact with other people who have the same passion. This lets everyone work together to improve the number and quality of links of that webmix.
What is Symbaloo? What is a webmix?
Symbaloo allows users to build a page of links to their favorite sites without having to setup a website. These pages which are called webmixes can be shared with other users. Webmixes can be built and shared for specialized uses. For example I can build a webmix about the Apple iPad. I would include selected links to webpages, blogs and videos about the iPad. Unlike the search results you would get from a search engine, these links are all verified by a person before being added to the webmix.
The webmix in the screenshot above provides links to active IPad bloggers. Just click on an icon and you will go to the blog.
In addition to webmixes I create, I can search for existing shared webmixes on a subject basis. This allows a user to quickly access an expert community.
The freedom in creating webmixes allows control of background and tile colors. Users can create mixes that are difficult for people with vision problems to use. The forums will allow feedback that will allow users to solve these and other usability issues.
Symbaloo 2.0 works with mobile devices like the iPhone and the iPad. You can get to sites without having to type in addresses or select from a list.
The service is free of charge. It can be used in a limited way without even signing up. Some features such as creating your own webmixes and sharing them with friends will require a free login so that you can control what you create.
