Free media movement (FMM)of Sri Lanka has expelled 3 members who were office bearers for money misappropriations in the period of 2007-2009.
Expelled media activities are Sunanda Deshapriya, K.Ruzandran and Kasun Yapa Karunarathne. Sunanda Desshapriya was the convener for FMM and two others were among the committee members for aforesaid period.
This decision was taken at the Annual General Meeting of the Free Media Movement which held yesterday (25 May 2007) headed by Chulawansha Sirilal who was one former convener of the organization.
A report which revealed money misappropriations had been taken place within the period of 2007-2008 and 2006-2009 has submitted to the AGM by the treasure of FMM Annanda Jayasekara and accepted by the assembly.
The report says the organization had dealt with over 2 24 00000 Sri Lanka Rupees in 2007-2008 and over 2 08 00000 Sri Lanka Rupees in 2008-2009 respectively. According to the apparent misappropriations had done in the aforesaid period concern and responsible members being covered and not responding to the allegations. Assembly further concerned about the prior cases and decided to expel those who responsible for money misappropriations.
Except from three office bearers some others who were responsible for money misappropriatons had expelled from the Free Media Movement. Among them there areWediwardhane , Athula Withana.
AGM has further noticed some who were not members have employed and also cheated money and decided to reimbursed money from them and those who expelled.
