Being confident of this very thing, that he which hath begun a good work in you will perform it until the day of Jesus Christ. Philippians 1:6 If any man have not the Spirit of Christ, he is none of His. For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, they are the sons of God. Romans 8:9;14 For as many of you as have been baptized into Christ have put on Christ. There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither bond nor free, there is neither male nor female: for ye are all one in Christ Jesus. Galatians 3:27-28 For no other foundation can no man lay than that is laid, which is Jesus Christ. 1 Corinthians 3:11 Since our eternal destiny depends from start to finish on Christ, it would be prudent thing to know what type of spirit that Christ imparted unto His chosen children who trusted in Him.
What kind of Spirit did Christ have?
He had a Spirit of Humility.
"Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus, who, being in the form of God, thought it not robbery to be equal with God, but made Himself of no reputation, and took upon Him the form of a servant, and was made in the likeness of men" (Philippians 2:5-7).
He had a Spirit of Love.
"This is my commandment, that ye love one another, as I have loved you. Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends" (John 15:12-13).
He had a Spirit of Service.
"Whosoever will be chief among you, let him be your servant: Even as the Son of Man came not to be ministered unto, but to minister and to give His life a ransom for many" (Matthew 20:27-28).
He had a Spirit of Obedience.
Jesus prayed, saying, "O, my Father, if it be possible, let this cup pass from Me: nevertheless not as I will, but as thou will" (Matthew 26:39).
He had a Spirit of Optimism.
"Wherefore seeing we also are compassed about with so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight and the sin which doth so easily beset us, and let us run with patience the race that is set before us. Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before Him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is sat down at the right hand of the throne of God" (Hebrews 12:1-2).
He had a Spirit of Forgiveness.
While dying on the cross Jesus prayed, "Father forgive them; for they know not what they do" (Luke 23:34).
These are but a few of the characteristics of Christ, and here are some others. Christ was also loyal, honest, kind, zealous, and brave. He had all cleansing power from sin coupled with the support of God Almighty, and exalted on High by Him. He preached the glad tidings of good things, and helped all those oppressed by the Devil. Therefore every Christian must all strive to be like Christ both in word and in deed. If any man speak, let him speak as the oracles of God; if any man minister, let him do it as of the ability which God giveth: that God in all things may be glorified through Jesus Christ, to whom be praise and dominion for ever and ever.. 1 Peter 4:11
