Bill Gates' creation behind for the first time in years
Apple surpassed Microsoft on Wednesday as the world’s biggest cyber company, taking a $3 billion lead.
There was a time when virtually all personal computer users, outside universities, pretty much had no choice but take Microsoft and its Internet Explorer.
Now ghosts of the past, Apple and Firefox (Netscape) have returned to the tables on Gates.
TechCrunch, which had predicted Apple would pass the once-invincible Microsoftt, said Apple’s stock is up 550 percent over the past five years. Microsoft rose 4 percent.
The horizon isn’t entirely rosy for and crew, despite the incredible success of the iPad.
Apple’s online music practices are under investigation.
And Google and others are hot on the heels of both Apple and Microsoft. While Google may seem a long way back it only went public in 2004.
