Ajmal Kasab sentenced to death for Mumbai attack

Hon'ble Justice M L Tahaliyani of the Special Sessions Court read out the judgement of death sentence to Mohammad Ajmal Amir Kasab, “shall be hanged by neck till he is dead.”. He was convicted on five chargesmurder, abetment to murder, criminal conspiracy, waging war and committing terrorist acts.

Ajmal Kasab has been given death penalty under the Indian Penal Code Sections 302 (murder), 302 read with 120 B (criminal conspiracy), 121 (waging war), 302 read with 34 (common intention) and 302 read with 109 (abetment) read with 120 B.

Laskar-E- Toyeba staged terrorist attack at several places in Mumbai on November 26, 2008 (26/11) which caused several hundreds death of citizens and policemen. Two major luxury hotels of Mumbai Taj and Oberoy were also under attack. All terrorists but Kasab were died in encounter.

Ajmal Kasab sentenced to death by the special sessions court today after a trial of 18 months.

Justice Tahaliyani referred kandahar case in his judgement. Kasab reacted to the judgement as "Shukriya Saab".
