Eight Belles ahead of Kentucky Derby 134

For all you sports enthusiasts and horse racing fans, here is today's schedule and television coverage for the 136th Kentucky Derby:

11 a.m. to 4 p.m. EDT - Races leading up to the Kentucky Derby on ESPN
includes stakes races such as the Eight Belles, Churchill Downs and Humana Distaff

4-5 p.m. EDT - Red Carpet coverage by Access Hollywood on NBC, as they interview celebrities arriving at the Kentucky Derby. Check out the fashion and social scene that leads up to the 136th annual "The Run for the Roses."

5-7 p.m. EDT - The 136th Kentucky Derby itself, broadcast on NBC from Churchill Downs. Follow your favorite horse and jockey to the Derby Winner's Circle

The Kentucky Derby is often referred to as "The Run for the Roses,” because of the blanket of roses that adorns the winner, or sometimes is called “The Most Exciting Two Minutes in Sports” for it's approximate duration. The Kentucky Derby is a 1.25 mile race for three-year-old thoroughbred horses that has been run at Churchill Downs in Louisville, Kentucky every year since 1875.

Grab your traditional Mint Julep and we'll see you at the races. Here's an easy Mint Julep Recipe:

4 fresh mint sprigs
2 1/2 oz bourbon whiskey
1 tsp powdered sugar
2 tsp water

Muddle (e.g. crush, like a Mohito) mint leaves, powdered sugar, and water in a collins glass. Fill the glass with shaved or crushed ice and add bourbon. Top with more ice and garnish with a mint sprig. Serve with a straw.
