Almost ten years ago, a former security guard named Raymond Lee Jennings was accused of killing an 18 year old girl Michelle O’Keefe at a Palmdale park-and-ride lot in February 2000. Raymond Lee Jennings was given sentence of 40 years to life today – ending his decade of legal battles. Members of Michelle’s family were present in court and had the chance of talking to Raymond Lee Jennings directly after five years. They all spoke about the pain that Raymond Lee Jennings had caused their family and the wounds that will never heal.
Raymond Lee Jennings will have to serve in jail consecutively for 40 years before parole. He will also face a restitution fine of ten thousand dollars. The murder case was peculiar as Raymond Lee Jennings was the first person to report the murder but soon the police became suspicious as he was the security guard on duty. Raymond Lee Jennings kept giving inconsistent accounts of the incident of the night of the murder. Although there was no direct physical evidence but the circumstantial evidence was strong enough to convict Raymond Lee Jennings of second degree murder.
