New Delhi: Why Rahul Gandhi is silent on IPL controversy? This question is haunting the political gallery of India. Rahul Gandhi is the most active young politician in India since couple of years. He has become the face of congress for the young generation. He is seen and painted as future Prime Minister of India. Rahul Gandhi is treated as "Prince" by the congress party members.

IPL, the Indian Premier League made Indian youth fanatic about T20 cricket. Success of IPL is mainly dependent on the participation of Indian youth. The entire design of IPL is pointed to the young generation of India. Cheer girls, parties and few other new things in Indian cricket, all are targeting Indian youth commercially.

It was expected that Rahul Gandhi, as a leader and face of Indian youth would interfere in to the political controversy. However, he remained completely silent during the whole episode.

Why is he silent? This is a million dollar question. Has his mother Sonia Gandhi told him to keep silent or has he decided his own to do so? There are whispers about his involvement in IPL and some people have the opinion that this is the reason behind his silence.

A simple tweeter ignited a debate about IPL and it has become the biggest political controversy in India. All major parties have now been involved in IPL controversy. There are hue and cry in Indian parliament about IPL. Congress party and Sonia Gandhi had an opinion that they could corner the opposition by taking resignation of their junior minister Shashi Tharoor. However, this has proved as day dream. IPL controversy has become a nightmare for the ruling congress party and some of its allies.

Name of another minister of UPA government, Prafulla Patel is the new apple of discord. He is from NCP. He has been alleged of misusing his power for the benefit of IPL. His daughter is allegedly involved in diverting an Air India flight for the benefit of IPL. Prafulla Patel is the Civil Aviation minister of India and his daughter is working for IPL. Wife of Prafulla Patel has travelled from Fuket (Thailand) to Mumbai in a private jet of IPL commissioner Lalit Modi and Vedeocon Chairman Venugopal Dhoot in February 2010. BJP and Shiv Sena have demanded his resignation. Raj Thakrey, MNC, has also demanded his resignation. NCP has clearly told that Prafulla Patel or any other NCP minister will not resign.

Maharashtra government has asked for Rs. 2 billion stamp duty from IPL. It is due since three years. Why this huge sum of money is not realized so far? Congress is the ruling party in Maharashtra and they have to answer this legitimate question.

Rahul Gandhi, who has been speaking on almost every matter since few months is completely silent in this matter. His silence is mysterious.

Mayavati, Chief Minister, Uttar Pradesh and BSP supreme has entered in to this drama in a recent development.

It has also been suspected that three of the IPL matches were fixed. Gambling and betting on IPL is case of concern.

Why BCCI and IPL have been given tax holidays and tax exemptions ignoring the Supreme court guidelines? BCCI is simply a trust which is acting for profit. Why are they allowed to make their own legislation? Why the central and state governments did not frame legislations about cricket despite constitutional provisions? The congress party and the UPA lead central government has to answer these questions.

Phone tapping cases are also involved with this episode. Some of the opposition MPs has demanded a statement from the government on this issue. It is reported that phones of Nitish Kumar, Chief minister, Bihar and Sharad Pawar, central agriculture minister has been tapped along with some other important leaders.

There are allegations and counter allegations between Ashok Gehlot, chief Minister of Rajasthan and Vasundhara Raje, former Chief Minister regarding IPL and Lalit Modi.

The entire episode has become knot on the throat of the congress party and UPA lead central government of India. Pranab Mukherjee, the senior most leader and union finance minister has cancelled his important trip to the US to look after the IPL issues.

There are rumors and whispers that congress party is very keen on the IPl issues because of the involvement of Rahul Gandhi. The opposition has demanded a probe by joint parliamentary committee on this issue. However, the demand is rejected by the government. Some analysts think that the congress party is afraid of any links come out which show involvement of their “Prince” Rahul Gandhi.

The Prince has never had a mind of his own but this is the case with most young modern Indians. He will probably come up some doctored comment that is pleasing to all concerned after much discussion with mummy.
Brought up in the luxury of the Gandhi family and still unmarried;its a shame that he will one day lead this great country.
But, why isn't the press hounding him for his views?
