The British authorities in Liverpool, England arrested two women Tuesday, April 6, 2010, at the airport after discovering the pair attempted to smuggle a dead relative aboard a flight bound for Germany.

The stealthy duo propped the 91-year-old deceased man in a wheelchair at Liverpool’s John Lennon International Airport sporting sunglasses. The women claimed he was napping. Airline personnel became suspicious and called authorities in order to investigate.

"At 11 a.m. on Saturday 3 April 2010, police at Liverpool John Lennon airport were alerted to the death of a 91-year-old man in the terminal building," police said in a statement. "Two women aged 41 and 66 were arrested on suspicion of failing to give notification of death."

According to police, the deceased may have been driven to the airport from Oldham, which is approximately 35 miles away from the airport. The women have been released on bail after being arrested on suspicion of failing to give notification of a death.

The identities of the women have not been released and the cause of the man’s death is not known.
