Census data is a treasure house of information: Manmohan Singh

Manmohan Singh, Prime Minister of India expressed his view on Census India. He told that the census data is a treasure house of information which will be used for planning economic and social activities in India.

Indian Prime Minister Manmohan Singh was enumerated Saturday at his official residence at Race course road, New Delhi. Census officers collected particulars from the Prime Minister and his wife Gursharan Kaur. The exercise was lasted for 15 minutes. The Indian premier was enthusiastic in furnishing particulars and spare time from his very busy schedule.

Prithviraj Chauhan, Minister of State in the Prime Minister’s Office, G.K. Pillai, Union Home Secretary and Census Commissioner C. Chandramouli were present at the time of enumeration.

Census 2011, the fifteenth Indian census has officially launched on April 1, 2010. Pratibha Patil, President of India was enumerated on that day to begin the exercise of Census 2011.

It is the biggest ever exercise in the world for collecting and analyzing data. The census 2011 will cover the entire population of India numbering 1.2 billion.

2.5 million officials are engaged to run the show.
