If You Don't Like A Law, Throw A Brick Through A Window

A “wing-nut kristallnacht” has taken place across the U.S. this past week, after President Obama signed into law healthcare reforms.

The idea of throwing bricks through the window of Democrat offices was originated, by his own admission, by an Alabama right-winger on disability named Mike Vanderboegh.

Vanderboegh warned House Democrats of the "unintended consequences of their actions." According to Vanderboegh’s twisted conspiracy theory, one being backed by many on the right including elected officials, is that IRS agents will go after people who refuse to buy insurance or pay the fines which would ultimately result in a "civil war."

The vote for in the House to pass the Senate version of the healthcare bill was taken this past Sunday…the call to attack the offices of House Democrats was given the Friday before.

From Vanderboegh’s call to arms:

If we refuse to pay the fine out of principle, we will be jailed.

If we resist arrest, we will be killed.

They will send the Internal Revenue Service and other federal police to do this in thousands of small Wacos, if that is what it takes to force us to submit.

This arrogant elite pretends that this oppression is for our own good, while everyone else understands that this is about their selfish, insatiable appetite for control over our liberty, our money, our property and our lives.

Vanderboegh’s anger isn’t just aimed at Democrats, though the brick throwing is:

This is not to say that the GOP (I refuse to call them "Republicans" for that is a misuse of the word) does not bear a large measure of responsibility for the situation we find ourselves in today. However, they have opposed this Intolerable Act[that’s what Vanderboegh calls the healthcare reform]. Yet, if we do a thorough job of breaking Democrat windows, I am sure that the GOP will profit from the example.

So, if you wish to send a message that Pelosi and her party cannot fail to hear, break their windows.

Excerpt from the Washington Post:

Vanderboegh, who lives in the Birmingham suburb of Pinson, described himself as a "Christian libertarian" and said he has long been a gun rights advocate. He said he joined a clandestine militia group called the "Sons of Liberty" and later became a public leader of the First Alabama Cavalry, Constitutional Militia.

In 2006, Vanderboegh advocated hurling bricks through the windows of members of Congress who supported giving illegal immigrants the same rights as U.S. citizens, according to news reports at the time. He said those bricks should be used to build a wall sealing off the United States from Mexico.

….

Vanderboegh said he advocates breaking windows only of Democratic Party offices, not congressional offices, and that he does not condone the death threats and other incidents of harassment that some Democratic lawmakers have faced.

"Obviously I not only deplore or decry that, but I denounce that vigorously because it has nothing to do with what I was advocating," he said.

Still, Vanderboegh's public cry for vandalism has made him vulnerable to the same threats.

"Frankly," he said, "my phone's been ringing off the hook with death threats the last few days."

If you study this group of actions, Vanderboegh’s idea and the actions of others that are doing similar things, you may just be thinking that these are just ill-informed angry Americans, and you’d be right; but there’s more to it than just their ignorance.

Their ignorance was crafted. It’s been crafted through generations of hate and ignorance; some of that ignorance is voluntary.

These people are not just trying to get attention and state their utter repugnance for policies; they are violently trying to enforce their minority will onto the nation at large.

And the key word in my last sentence is “minority” or “will” but “violently”.

It doesn’t matter if property damage is being conducted by those on the right or on the left, it is not right. It’s wrong. You may have an understanding of how the people that are committing the violence feel and you may be sympathetic, but ultimately you must draw the line at actual violence, whether it is aimed at property or people.

It is not cool to break storefronts of Starbucks and Gap and it is not cool to break the glass fronts of Democratic Party offices.

And please leave the families of policymakers out of your disdain for the policies of the policymaker, this isn’t Afghanistan or Somalia, most Americans find that sort of thing disgusting.

You can scream, you can call, you can make signs, you can march, you can come up with millions of other creative ways to communicate your ideas, but no violence, no spitting and if you can, no racist remarks; it just makes your side look stupid.

As for Vanderboegh, the man is an idiot. He talks about all the Marxist blah blah blah and sits at home while his wife works for a forklift company and collects disability checks and incites violence.

See, one of the best things about most of these right wing nuts is that many of them actual are the people that our government helps. Most of the people on welfare weren’t urban “welfare queens” or drug dealers, they were rural folks in “southern” towns.

The people that benefit the most from most of the government programs aimed at the poor and middle class families are people that are normally yelling at the government for its “socialism”.
