Mayawati, Chief Minister, Uttar Pradesh (UP) had been garlanded with currency notes twice this week. This issue has ignited political uproar in India.

There was a garland of small currency notes for Mayawati last week. BSP spokes person informed publicly that this garland had currency notes worth Rs. 18 lakh (1.8 million). Next time, BSP welcome Mayawati with a huge garland of higher denomination currency notes. All these currency notes were of denomination Rs. 1000. They announced that this garland worth Rs. 21 lakh,

Digvijay Singh, a senior Congress party leader and former Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh (MP) took notice of the same and calculated value of currency notes used in the garland.

It worth approximately Rs. 22 crore (220 million) according to Digvijay Singh. Mulayam Singh Yadav, Supremo of Samajwadi Party (SP) and former Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh (UP) claimed that this garland had currency notes worth Rs. 50 Crore (500 million). All these created a political uproar in Indian politics.

Both of them questioned where from this money came? Income tax department has ordered a probe for this unaccounted money.

In between, Mulayam Singh Yadav has alleged the Congress party of saving Mayawati behind the scene.

It is worth noted that Mulayam Singh Yadav and Lalu Prasad Yadav have recently withdrawn their supports from Congress led UPA government. Mayawati is still supporting the Central Government, Central Government of India may come in to serious problem if Mayawati (BSP) withdraws support from the Government.
