This is one report that I really hate to write, and I've been struggling with it for days, but it must not only be written but reported. I arrived here in Las vegas Feburary the 3rd. this year 2010, I have relocated here to assist my agent Timothy Beal of Entertainment at it's Best develop a reality show that he created the idea for.
The problem doesn't begin there at all, but with a one Danny Welton an 80 year old washed up has been who was in the movie "The Wild One's" with, as well as won a Grammy in 1998 for his album Summer in San Francisco. I first met Danny Welton playing his Harmonica at Kareoke in the Imperial Palace Hotel and Casino here in Las Vegas.
He is an excellent harmonica player, but he is a legend in his own mind according to him just ask him, he'll tell you that no one else on earth is as talented as Danny Welton. Unfortuantley for me I started rented a room from him and that was what started a nightmare for me from a washed up has been.
He would wake me up all hours of the day and night to write his script that John Cameron allegedly was going to give him an advance on. I was also a Judge at the Independent Short Film, Music & Art Festival in Long Beach, California Feburary 19th, to the 21st this year and he got upset becasue I wouldn't cancel my obligation to the film festival to write his so called academy award winning screenplay.
After writing 22 pages on it and putting my own projects on the back burner I decided to stop writing his script and told him to write it his self, he went crazy on me. It get's better though, one night we were at the Imperal Palace at Kareoke and he would insult every singer that came off the stage and call everyone rank amatuer's. I told him if he thought everyone was terrible and couldn't carry a tune then why does he perform at Kareoke with all of us rank ameture's.
His responce was so the tourist can hear real talent in the lounge. Plus he would say crude sexual remarks to women and make rude comments to just about anybody, I finally told him to stop or else as I do not treat people that way and if he can't conduct himself with class then stay away from me. Plus I was driving him to the Palms to bet on the horse races and to the store, and to Kareoke, and to whereever and he did not put one dime of gas in my truck.
He wanted me to go to Hollywood to pick up an alleged girlfriend of his a 23 year old black girl and I told him that if she wanted to be with him in Vegas she would have already got to Vegas if she truly wanted to be with him, and that no 23 year old girl I know is going to live with a man that has no means of supporting her.
He eventually started calling and bugging my agent telling him to drop me and represent a true talent that being him, my agent told him that he wasn't interested in representing him as it would not be in the best interest of his agency to represent someone with a bad attitude. So for days he called and left nasty messages on my agent's answering machine.
He finally managed to get himself kicked out ot the Imperial Palace and all of their properties. Which is a relief to me as now I can frequent there in peace. What is funny if you log onto www.amazon.com and search for Summer in San Francisco by Danny Welton it sells for the low, low, bargin price of one cent that also set him off when I brought that to his attention one day. which I thought was funny.
At least my album non stop flight, still sell's on amazon for $7.99 to $ 8.99 each as opposed to one cent and I've never won a grammy. He also started obligating my truck to pick other people up and carry them all over Vegas and neither he nor the people that I ran around for a couple of days offered any gas money but I put a halt to that very fast.
He has burned every bridge in showbiz that one can burn, infact I started researching Danny Welton on the internet one day once I found out how pig headed and egotistical and rude and how he thinks that he is the only talent on the face of the earth, I found this posted about him it is as follows:
Hello All -
Sure enjoy reading Winslow's knowledgeable and interesting posts - and
appreciate his recognition of misleading and error-ridden posts without
flaming. Constructive criticism is both healthy and necessary for the good
of all. While the efforts to share a person's thoughts and ideas are
commendable - and are usually done in the sincerity of helping others - they
are not always the result of tried and true methods, but rather carry an
overbalance of personal opinion and unresearched ideas. However, this is not
always bad, because the thought-provoking process has been launched, and will
usually stir those who are knowledgeable to respond. That is the whole idea
of the forum, and the objective has been attained!
Also enjoyed reading the various posts regarding the recent SPAH convention
in Memphis - guess I really missed a great one.
A few comments on Danny Welton, who helped to make the convention one that
won't be soon forgotten: the comments made regarding his playing are not
surprising - he has made a name for himself over the years as a player. I
have video tapes of him playing on the old show (taken from the
Nostalgia Cable Channel), as well as films he appeared in as an
actor/harmonica player such as Marlon Brando's motorcycle gang film of the
'50s, "The Wild Ones" and (of all things) "Meet Danny Wilson", starring Frank
Sinatra and (1953). Like him or not, he has been around and
done a lot of things. HOWEVER - he did not conduct himself in a professional
manner at the SPAH convention, as witnessed by hundreds. I know Danny Welton
well, but I will not try to defend him in any way for what happened in
Memphis. IN HIS OWN MIND - he is the world's greatest harmonica player, and
truly believes it - but isn't that show-biz? The problem arises when a
person's ego becomes so over-powering to the exclusion of all others. He
expected the people at SPAH to bow down to him, and when it became apparent
that they would not, he lost it! (I attended a concert he headlined with six
other great acts, just one week before his SPAH appearance, in which he
announced, knowing I was in the audience as his guest, that he was going to a
gathering of the world's greatest harmonica players in Memphis the following
week, where he would be accepting the Harmonica Player of the Year Award -
and he actually believed it! (Note: Ron Kalina, who is a chromatic jazz
harmonicist and pianist with many Hollywood film and TV credits, was the
pianist in the orchestra backing Danny, and also heard the comments.) I had
already explained to him the workings of the Award, and that it is not based
on the number of recordings you sell, but rather an acknowledgement of the
contributions a person makes in "spreading the gospel" of the harmonica. It
is not actually necessary to be a player to become the recipient of the
award. Many novices and even non-players are involved in education of the
youth, assisting the elderly, etc, and just bringing the joy of the harmonica
to the people of their communities. The award can just as easily be won by a
top professional - but not for his stage appearances or number of recordings
sold. Finally, it is an award selected by popular vote of the membership at
large, recognizing a worthy recipient. Back to Danny Welton - he called me
on Sunday night when he arrived home from the convention to tell me in his
own words what had happened. His was the first report I had heard. Guess
what - his version of the proceedings was no different from what I later
heard from many others, and then read on Harp-L! Except that he thought he
had been mistreated, misunderstood, and not accepted in the way he expected.
I have discussed this with him a number of times since, and he is still a
victim of his ego. (I have heard rumors that he suffers from a
manic-depressive state, but I have not discussed this with either his wife
Melody or himself. So I would not choose to be quoted on this, but if it is
fact, then he is probably a very ill individual, and in that case, some
allowance should be given for his actions.)
There have been several references to Brody Buster and his age - he was 9 at
the SPAH convention, but has since had a birthday, and is now 10 years old.
His first name is BRODY, his last name is BUSTER, and his parents are Mr. &
Mrs. Curtis BUSTER. Hope that clears that one up.
For those of you who have not yet attended a SPAH Convention, you have
probably missed seeing many of the names that keep turning up on the List -
names like Sugar Blue, Peter Madcat Ruth, Corky Siegel, George Wild Child
Butler, Jerry Portnoy, , Steve Baker, Roland van Straaten,
Lee Oskar, Little Sonny, Robert Bonfiglio, etc. etc. Most of them have been
there more than once. SPAH has featured a Blues Night (usually on Thursday)
for many years. Don't miss it.
Enough for now - back at you soon. - BassHarp
When I showed this to him Danny Welton said that he knows who BassHarp is and will have the mafia kill him, well after enough of the greatest legend in his own mind Danny Welton, I moved out renting a room in a gated community with a lady and her son she is a retired slot machine tech and her son who is waiting for escrow to clear on his newly purchased home is retired from Delta Airlines great people.
I believe that God made it possible for me to have the incident with Danny Welton just in case that I do make the big time in my continued pursuit of the entertainment industry so that I never become like this has been and keep my self grounded as well as liked by everyone that I come in contact with, I wouldn't be like Danny Welton even if I wasn't in Show Business.
Trust me the three weeks I rented from him, I could write an entire book on Danny Welton, the has been legend in his own mind.
