A Californian State Senator Roy Ashburn got arrested Wednesday morning for driving while being drunk
The Californian State Senator, Roy Ashburn, was arrested at 2am on Wednesday after an officer noticed that his car was swerving side to side. The officer stopped Senator Roy Ashburn and noticed that he was drunk. Naturally, he got arrested for drunk driving, however, what is more interesting is the fact that Senator Roy Ashburn was coming back from Faces, which is a gay bar and what makes it even more interesting is that he had a male passenger aboard his car.
Senator Roy Ashburn got released for a $1,400 bond, after having been charged with a DUI and a blood alcohol level of more than 0.8%
Senator Roy Ashburn apparently is a married man with four children and has been opposing gay rights; so the question arises, what was he doing at the gay club at 2am?
In the official statement, Senator Roy Ashburn said, "I am deeply sorry for my actions and offer no excuse for my poor judgment. I accept complete responsibility for my conduct and am prepared to accept the consequences for what I did. I am also truly sorry for the impact this incident will have on those who support and trust me – my family, my constituents, my friends, and my colleagues in the Senate.”
Senator Ashburn is a Republican Senator and represents parts of Kern, Tulare and San Bernardino counties.
