Jane Zhang Liangying, celebrated Chinese female singer since 2005, showcased to the world why Chinese pop singers have yet to be ready to take on a global stage.
Zhang was given the honor to perform on the Oprah Winfrey show. When her mouth opened, it was not the expected self-introduction, but the not-in-sync lyrics. Nervous? The audience was also stunned not by her acclaimed vocal, but the content of the lyrics, as they absolutely had no idea what she was singing about: she was singing Chinese pop songs to her American audience.
Zhang wore a very miserable dress. Her attire was utterly dwarfed by her predecessors, four beautiful deities playing violins and Cello, who were wearing blue star-studded long dress. While Zhang, in sharp contrast, wore a tight black T and bucket-shaped silver mini skirt, exposing her slack white thighs.
After her performance, Zhang went ahead avidly to greet the talk show queen and the guest host, Simon Cowel. Zhang seemed excited yet equally nervous. She began to sing, without any invitation, the song Hero, and attributed her dream-come-true to her pop idol Mariah Carey.
