India now has a new National Security Adviser - NSA, Mr. Shiv Shankar Menon was made new NSA by Prime Minister's office today. National Security adviser has the role of setting up India's future Defence and Foreign policies. Shiv Shankar Menon was the Ambassador to China and Pakistan. Hence PM's office didn't had to think about new NSA's credibility in maintaining good relation with it's neighbours.

Former NSA, Mr. M. K. Narayanan left the office last month and now he will become the governor of West Bengal. Shiv Shankar menon is basically a Malayali, from India's southern state of Kerala. NSA has the same power of a Union minister.
