The Congress party is the ruling party in India. It is a big and century old party. However, it seems that it is turning towards a family organization. The Congress party is now looks like a family organization of Nehru - Gandhi family. They have even failed to pay tribute to their own Prime Minister LalBahadur Shashtri . No one from the party cared to go and pay homage to his Samadhi at Vijay ghat on his death anniversary, January 11, 2010 according to E tv report.

Congress party have ruled India for a very long time after independence. India has got Prime Ministers till 1977 from the Congress party only. Jawaharlal Nehru had been the Prime Minister of India till his death in 1964. Lal Bahadur Shashtri and Indira Gandhi ruled up to 1977.

It was only 1977 when Morarji Desai of Janta Party took over as Prime Minister. He ruled only for two and half years succeeded by Charan Singh who ruled only for few months. Indira Gandhi came back again in 1980 and ruled till her assassination in 1984 as Prime Minister of India.

Rajiv Gandhi, her son acted as Prime Minister between 1984 and 1989 before the Congress party lost in general election 1989.

V P Singh ruled for two years and Chandrashekhar for few months. P V Narasimha Rao of Congress party became the Prime Minister of India in 1991 and ruled up to 1996.

I K Gujral and Devegauda had only little time as Prime Minister and then AtalVehari Bajpayee of Bharatiya Janata Party came as the Prime Minister of India. He had a good time till 2004.

The Congress party won the general election unexpectedly in 2004 and Dr. Manmohan Singh, a highly qualified bureaucrat was posted as Prime Minister of India. The Congress party has won 2009 general election and he has repeated as the Prime Minister.

However, it is repeatedly said that real power belongs to Sonia Gandhi.

The Congress party has forgotten Narsimha Rao and now it is turn of LalBahadur Shashtri . Lal Bahadur Shashtri was known in India as a rare breed of politicians. He was simple, honest and sacrificed his life for the nation. He ruled India at the period of crisis. India was defeated in a war against China in 1962 in Nehruvian era faced again a war against Pakistan in 1965. Lal Bahadur Shashtri handled the situation greatly and efficiently and won the battle. Unfortunately, he died just after the war in a suspicious condition.

Only thing he lacked is that he did not belong to Nehru Gandhi family and Congress party is at ease to forget him and his contributions to the country. We, the Indians can not expect such bloonder from a Prime Minister like Manmohan Singh.
