Why is the UK taking control of Crown land in Turks and Caicos? It is amazing to me that citizens of the UK have no idea that the UK has invaded the Turks and Caicos Islands in the Caribbean. This occurred last August 2009.

If you ask a citizen of the UK, the usual reaction is that of disbelief. However, yes it's true. Look at your watches folks, does it read 2010 (or cellular phones now as it were)?

It feels like English colonial 1700s, but it's true, the UK has recolonised Turks and Caicos.

What makes the UK's sudden interest in Crown land control interesting, is its lack of interest in helping the people they so righteously proclaim to be helping.

For example, the UK has bulldozed homes of lower-middle class families in housing developments that these families have unwittingly built on so-called Crown land. The UK made a press release calling these people squatters and a month later had bulldozers knocking down their homes. In addition, instead of working with these now homeless families, the UK has turned its back on these families. A UK contractor, who was hired to bulldoze these families' homes, threatened the people with their lives if they did not comply with the evacuation order. These families were crying, pleading that they had nowhere to go and that their life savings were sunk into their property investment. The British have a general lack of concern of care for the people of Turks and Caicos and no mercy.

In addition to strong-holding Crown land in Turks and Caicos, the British have imposed a direct monthly fee for all citizens for state run health care, which has caused financial mayhem on the people. Some citizens have reported financial despair to the extent of not being able to afford their electricity bills causing them to cook on an open fire outside. This has a devastating affect on the pride of the citizens.

Furthermore, the British have signed an amendment to the financial banking sector of Turks and Caicos, thereby damaging that resource of the economy.

Furthermore, the British have taken the lucrative $600 million per annum tourism GDP from the people and have taxed them for a national debt of merely $135 million, which was caused by the UK's lack of payment (a large amount resulting from overdraft fees and finance charges for lack of payment).

The UK has implemented a tax on the hospitality industry causing a concern for tourism as many resorts fear bankruptcy. This has a trickle down affect on the economy. Not to mention the resorts that the UK caused to collapse by kicking them off of "crown land".

Democracy? Forget about it. The British took the autonomous constitution from the people and declared an abolishment of "the citizens' right to a jury trial" for the entire population of the islands. Not just those accused of corruption, but all people. This is almost unprecedented for the British, even in Northern Ireland this didn't happen. Their reason is that the citizens of Turks and Caicos are all corruptible.

The local police are now angry for UK's failure to give them certainty about their jobs and their duties as law enforcement personnel with the new government. Therefore, the crime rate has doubled since the UK arrived. The UK allows the Turks and Caicos population to blame the police chief.Important record keepers and island officials have been dismissed from their jobs or forced out. New pink faces replace the distinguished islander law makers of yesterday.

Secret meetings are being conducted by the British government excluding island government personnel and with political opposition parties. This has created a fear of reprisal with any newly emerging leadership or support thereof for any hope of elections.Turks and Caicos is being run as a dictatorship; HE Hon Governor Gordon Wetherell of the UK is making all decisions solely with the advice of an "advisory council".

What makes this impossibly unpalatable is that 99% of UK citizens have no idea what is being done in their name, as Stuart Yates of the UK Activist has reported.
