I wrote about the head in the stone before, this is an update about it. I will back it up this time with a photo of it. Nor, this head in a rock is actually made of rock, pure lime stone that was buried two meters under the hill in the back of the house that nobody knew about.
It is a giant head as of a Roman soldier that seems to have a head cover on top of the head. It seems to be turned left because the nose is pointing that way, the mouth and the chin also, and it has the right eye showing. It has been two years since I excavated that area, destroying the two meter high hill because we need flat ground to cement the terrace around the house and stop all the mud from being brought in when it rains.
My wife's nephew, Riko, took a crowbar on Sunday afternoon and tried to break the head up. He succeeded snapping off a lump of rock at the bottom that was part of the neck but the head itself it seems is as hard as steel because he couldn't budge it. He was able to dig up rock around the sides of the head but the head itself is solid and is still there.
Monday morning, my wife brought a stone mason around and asked him for the price to destroy all that rock there protruding from the hill and out of the ground. He will start the job on Monday of the coming week. I'm going to try to get the head moved without damage to keep as a souvenir brcause it does look real. Could it be possible that it's a petrified head?
If the stone mason can move it without damaging it, I'll put it aside and at a later time cement it in place somewhere as an ornament. Tomorrow I'll write an update of the Maguindanao killings. It has been alledged that the dead journalists had been sexually mollested because there are signs of the sexual molestation of a number of them. 2/12/2009.
