Frontier Corps Commandant Brig Fayyaz Monday said Khyber Agency’s tehsil Bara has been cleared of extremists and evidences regarding the involvement foreign hand there have also been found.
Addressing a news briefing over the operation, ‘Khwakh Ba De Sham’, Brig Fayyaz said the forces were attaining extraordinary successes in the operation with Gorgori completely under forces control. At least 61 extremists have hitherto been killed and 87 others arrested and 27 vehicles were destroyed, he informed adding the extremists are being defeated in also Ferozkhel and Aurakzai Agencies.
He said there are Afghan and Uzbek bodies among the captured bodies of extremists, adding tunnels and caves used by terrorists were also found, where gunpowder and explosives used to be produced. The FC Commandant said the noose around the extremists’ commanders hailing from Bara and Dara Adam Khel is being tightened and the success will soon be achieved in this connection. Indian-manufactured weapons were also found among the captured arms and ammunition in the operation, he added.
Curfew in Bara has been kept imposed to avoid any untoward situation. Whereas local people have told that most of the common people were suffering in Bara due to the steady curfew. Majority of the people detained by security forces are innocent who unconsciously violate curfew in Bara.The local people have demanded the security forces to complete their offensive as soon as possible to ease the tension of the local tribal people.
Meanwhile militants have destroyed a government primary school at Bajaur Agency here on Monday. The tribal elders of Bajaur Agency have also held a gathering to flush out militants from their respective areas to restore peace.
It is to be recalled that in most of the tribal areas the services of cell phones and V-Phones have been abolished due to the ongoing military operations in the tribal areas. The suspension of the cell phone services are meant to bring an end to the contacts and communications among the militants. The people in FATA have been suffering due to unavailability of the cell phone services.
