In an embarrassing moment for software-giant Microsoft, details of Windows 8 and Windows 9 have been leaked online.
Microsoft employee Robert Morgan, on his online LinkedIn public profile (now removed from the site but still viewable in Google Cache as of the time of this writing) speaks of his job in "senior research and development" and that, ironically, he is working in a "high security department". The profile includes details of Microsoft's next two OS releases, such as "128-bit architecture compatibility with the Windows 8 kernel and Windows 9 project plan."
Considering that many software and hardware developers are still behind in support for 64-bit architecture, a new standard released with Microsoft's former flagship operating system, Windows Vista, releasing a 128-bit operating system in 2-3 years is a fairly bold move on Microsoft's part.
Official Microsoft press releases state that Windows 8 is due to be released in 2012.
One can only speculate as to the repercussions of Microsoft's new OS release policy.
