Good evening readers, A Belgian man is awake after 23 years. Rom Houben was diagnosed as being in a vegetative state but was said to have appeared to have been conscious all the while. He was allegedly in a coma after a car crash. He now types a letter stating that he missed out out on so much. He felt alone, lonely, frustrated, but at the same time blessed by his family. He wrote "It was especially frustrating when my family needed me. "I could not share in their sorrow. We could not give each other support." He also stated in the interview "Just Imagine. You hear, see, feel, think, but no one can see that. You undergo things. You cannot participate in life." How tragic. This is truly a miracle for this man. Arthur Caplan, a bioethics professor at the University of Pennsylvania, is skeptical, calling this "facilitated communication." Leave it to some people to not believe that there are miracles. As for this case it was misdiagnosis due to lack of technology. That's all for now. As always your comments are welcomed and encouraged! Reporting from a small town.
