Adopted DJ Finds Out His Real Father is Charles Manson

What would you do if you found out your daddy was Charles Manson? Matthew Roberts, 41, who was adopted as a 10 year old boy and raised in Illinois, recently spoke out about the painful discovery.

Roberts, a DJ in Los Angeles, said, "I'm a peaceful person, trapped in the face of a monster. Roberts found out his blood father was Manson about twelve years ago. He used an agency to find his birth mother and they began writing each other.

In the beginning, she would not reveal the details, but eventually told Roberts she had been captivated by Manson and joined his cult in San Francisco. She told her son she had been raped by Manson.

Roberts says, "My hero is Gandhi. I'm an extremely non-violent, peaceful person and a vegetarian. I don't even kill bugs."

Roberts has corresponded with Manson, now 75, and confined to life in California's Corcoran State Prison.

Manson confirmed he was Robert's father. He talked about the times he spent with Matthew's mother in handwritten notes and postcards signed with a swastika, the symbol he has tattooed on his forehead.

Roberts said at first he was stunned, but added, "He's my biological father. I can't help but have some kind of emotional connection. That's the hardest thing of all, feeling love for a monster who raped my mother. I don't want to love him, but I don't want to hate him either."
