Adam Lambert's performance on Wednesday's "Good Morning America" show was recently cancelled by ABC. A spokeswoman said, "Given his controversial live performance on the America Music Awards, we were concerned about airing a similar concert so early in the morning."
After ABC cancelled Lambert's appearance, CBS announced he'll perform on "The Early Show" Wednesday. He will also be interviewed about the pandemonium that has come to light since his performance on the AMA show Sunday night, exactly what Lambert wanted, to get people talking and draw more attention towards himself.
More than 1,500 complaints came in about his performance, mainly him thrusting a man's head into his crotch. When Lambert rehearsed for the AMA show, he didn't pull that particular stunt, so ABC was caught off guard.
Tim Winter, President of The Parents Television Council, urged viewers to complain to ABC, Dick Clark Productions and the FCC. He called the performance "tasteless and vulgar." He also went on to say, "Adam Lambert, the second-place finisher in last season's American Idol competition, chose to treat American families to simulated oral sex and other demeaning behavior."
On a personal note, I was in awe of the talent Adam Lambert exuded on stage when I watched him on American Idol last season. I couldn't wait to see his next performance week after week. I was shocked he didn't win. I don't have a problem with him being gay.
As far as his AMA performance goes, I agree with Tim Winter. Lambert was obscene and gross. Now what Lambert wants to do behind closed doors is his business, but I don't want to have it thrust in my face.
I wasn't real comfortable with Lambert openly kissing the guy during his AMA performance, but that's what some artists think they have to do now to get people talking and to buy their records and concert tickets. I DID have a problem with him shoving a man's face up to his crotch, so I turned off the TV after that ugly stunt.
I don't understand why so many performers think they have to perform sexual shock value to get our attention, but obviously it's working in their favor. Look how popular Lady Gag Gag has become. Gross me out.
Remember the Beatles? They never did lewd, sexual acts on stage, look how far they went. I could list many artist such as Taylor Swift, who is a phenomenon at the age of 19, and has accumulated awards out the yin yang, even beating out Michael Jackson Sunday night. She's as sweet as lemon pie and she's doing very well for herself without shoving sex up our a#%.
I'd love to hear some opinions of what you folks think about Adam Lambert's performance Sunday night. Do you think he went to far?
