Brain Implant

Intel's Pittsburgh Labs have announced they expect to have "Brain Implants" available by 2020... The devices would be used to control computers, tv's, cell phones, etc. which will allow people to say goodbye to keyboards, the mouse and other remote control devices used to control electronic devices. Earlier this year a wheelchair controlled by an implant was demonstrated and a monkey fitted with a prosthetic arm is able to control it through a brain implant...

Obviously this would be a god-send for anyone who is paralyzed, but paranoid critics are already screaming about the "dangers" of people hacking into the implants and creating armies of zombies... Actually, nothing could be further from the truth (while the devices might be able to send commands to a piece of electronic equipment, the ability to control a human mind is nothing more than science fiction at it's best...)

There have always been people who'll do any and everything to stop technology - and it's those people who will try to keep something as useful as this from becoming a reality (maybe they're afraid they'll lose control over the people they've already brainwashed into doing the things "they" want them to do...)

i know... but it is definitely possible. after all, the neurological system is controlled by electronic impulses. It would be amazing to think 'on' and your TV turns on all of a sudden

It seems a little far-fetched, like something straight out of Minority Report. I don't know if they'll actually implement it. The risks seem to outweigh the benefits. We can deal with computers getting hacked, but people getting their brains hacked? Come on now. Haven't you seen iRobot? We don't need that.

I would never have a computer chip placed inside of my brain. Short people don't need stuff that will short circuit.
