During an interview on WTOP radio in Washington Monday, former CNN anchor Lou Dobbs said he's considering a run for the White House in 2012.
When asked if the possibility he might run for an Oval Office bid was "crazy talk," Dobbs replied, "What's so crazy about that. Golly!"
The radio interviewer persevered about about whether or not this was for real and Dobbs stated, "For the first time, I'm actually listening to some people about politics. I don't think I've got the nature for it, but we've got to do something in this country and I think that being in the public arena means you've got to be part of the solution."
Dobbs was a founding member of CNN in 1980 and one of its most high-profile personalities. He suddenly resigned from CNN in early November, saying he could no longer operate under the force to avoid airing anchor opinions in prime time.
Dobbs has drawn criticism for being anti-immigrant and for believing President Obama was not born in the United States. Dobbs has demanded Obama produce a birth certificate proving he can legally be president.
It is also rumored that Dobbs is considering a bid for the U.S. Senate in New Jersey. He's said to be eyeing a 2012 run for the Senate seat currently held by Robert Mendez, a Democrat.
The over self-confident Dobbs has never been elected to any government office.
