MICROSOFT and Rupert Murdoch's News Corp are in discussions planning to remove its websites from Google.

The move could make Microsoft force Google to pay to index news or for the software giant to pay to include the news results in its own search engine, Bing.

The biggest beneficiary is the newspaper industry, which has yet to construct a reliable online business model to replace declining newspaper circulation and print advertising revenues.

Murdoch prompted a fierce debate among media watchers with his accusation that Google is 'stealing' from his vast newspaper empire and his threat to block the search engine from accessing its content.

Google is laughing straight to the bank with it's advertising profits. I mean, if it wasn't for all the corporations that have pages on the web, Google wouldn't exist. So I can see why Microsoft feels like it's entitled to a piece of the pie, especially in this tough economy.
