With only five couples left and the end in sight, the results show for week 8 of “Dancing with the Stars” was an entertaining but tense evening.
Joanna and Derek opened the show with a repeat performance of their futuristic Paso Doble’. Head judge Len Goodman introduced the piece with, “on season 50 of ‘Dancing with the Stars’…”
It was shortly after that performance that Joanna and Derek learned that they would be the first couple in the semi-finals next week.
After recaps of last night’s events superstar crooner Michael Buble’ performed “Haven’t Met You Yet” from his number one album “Crazy Love”. Buble’ would return later to sing “Feeling Good”.
It was Mya and Dmitriy who were the next to learn that they would be in the semi-finals.
Design-a-Dance made a return this season; it is the fans chance to have a say in the type of dance, costume, and song; as well as the dancers in a performance. This year the dance was the Paso Doble’ performed by season five contestant Sabrina Bryan and her partner Mark Ballas to “Eye of the Tiger”. The couple was wearing an orange and black tiger themed costume.
Former “Dancing with the Stars” contestants Kenny Maine and football star Jerry Rice along with Len Goodman provided some comic relief on a tense filled show with the return of Dance Center where they make comments about the remaining celebrity dancers.
Entertainer Donny Osmond and Kym Johnson were the next couple to learn that they would be in the seim-finals leaving Aaron and Karina and Kelly and Louis in the bottom two.
Before Aaron and Kelly learned whether or not they would be going home or be a part of the semi-finals Scottish singer and “Britain’s Got Talent” sensation Susan Boyle performed the United States debut of the song that put her on the map – “I Dreamed a Dream”.
The final couple to be saved for the evening was Kelly and Louis sending Aaron and Karina home.
Next week the four couples in the semi-finals must perform three complete dances for a chance to make it in the finals.
