Iowa Hawkeyes Upset By Northwestern

Iowa falls from the unbeaten ranks in NCAA college football as the Northwestern Wildcats defeated the Iowa Hawkeyes with a score of 17-10 yesterday afternoon. The loss dashes all hopes of Iowa landing a potential BCS bid. Iowa's starting quarterback, Ricky Stanzi, turned his ankle in the 2nd quarter. After the injury, Iowa's offense went downhill. Iowa's backup QB couldn't hit the side of a barn. I applaud Northwestern for not quitting after getting pummelled by Penn St. last week.

The troubles do not end for Iowa because Stanzi is out for next week's game against the Ohio State Buckeyes. This game will decide who will win the Big Ten Conference and receive a BCS bid to Pasadena for the Rose Bowl. Since Iowa's QB is out, we have to go through another year of watching Ohio St. stink up another BCS football game.

I don't care if Iowa was overrated. That wasn't the point of the story. I didn't want to see Ohio St. in another BCS Bowl, and it was close to happening after the Buckeyes lost to Purdue. However, Iowa choked and Stanzi is out against Ohio St.

That's a painful loss for Iowa. It was just one of those games where everything goes wrong after an unfortunate incident, the injury of a starting QB. They can't dwell on this though. What happened happened, and they have to move on and focus on doing their best in the next game.

Too funny! That's right, you're in GA, pollard. Coach Tressel needs to change his entire coaching schemes in order to compete with these spread offenses. Ohio St. will lose in a BCS game again unless Arizona wins the Pac-10.
