Preventing another Mumbai 26/11

Right from the Home Minister to the Chief of Police, Mumbai, everyone is determined to prevent another terrorist attack on Mumbai. They have augmented the coastline and the first batch of specially trained commandoes identified as Force One has landed in the city. The contingent of 1600 policemen has been trained by the Germans and Israelis and they have been put up in a separate area in Goregaon, on the outskirts of Mumbai. But, what if the terrorists chose a target other than Mumbai? The need of the hour is to reinforce all vital installations like the airports, sea ports and railway terminuses. The safety drill must be compulsory and there should be prompt action in following up all leads and in identifying sensitive areas where extra precautions must be taken like places of worship. There is a saying – lock the stables after the horses have fled! That is what one is witnessing of late and it can be self defeating.
