The Berlin Wall was demolished on 9th November 1989 and the 20th anniversary celebrations are on. Once the Wall was broken down, people carried away bits and pieces of the Wall as mementoes to preserve for posterity. And, one remembers numerous stories of how people escaped from East Berlin. Some of the stories have been made into memorable movies and new stories keep coming out as people narrate their experiences and adventures. Some of them resorted to the age-old gimmick of disguises, others dug tunnels and escaped, and others scaled the ladders and somehow managed to evade the searchlights. The following report gives a few such spine chilling stories –
