Hurricane Ida warnings in Mexico
Hurricane Ida is becoming stronger and is headed to the Guff of Mexico – the wind speed is around 90 mph and the storm could strike the coast in a couple of days. Ida is a Category 1 hurricane but could become a stronger Category 2 and eventually weaken. The Government of Mexico has cautioned people to avoid travel and has imposed restrictions on shipping activities in and around the Gulf for fear of loss of lives and property. Arrangements are being made to protect the oil installations because Mexico has the oil refineries in the region. However, the heavy rains due to Hurricane Ida last week in Nicaragua did not harm the coffee crops.

The latest news reports on television in the Lake Charles market is that Hurricane Ida is in the Gulf of Mexico and headed for the Gulf Coast round the Alabama Florida area near Mobile. Officials in Southwest Louisiana are keeping their fingers crossed saying hurricanes can change their path at any time.
