Health Care Reform Bill HR3962 squeaks by with 220 'yes' votes and 215 'no' votes, Saturday Nov 7th 2009. Now it goes to the Senate where debate is sure to cause further delay on a vote. Out of 177 Republicans, only one voted yes. Joseph Cao From Louisiana. 39 Democrats voted No out of 258. It seems that the opposition voiced from the millions of citizens who attended 'Town Hall meetings' and the Tea Party Rallies all across the U.S. this summer and Fall, fell on some deaf ears. Those opposed to this Bill, come from all political parties, Democrats, Republicans, Conservatives, and have been made up of all races. Americans opposed have e- mailed and called their representative's and Senators and voiced their reasons for opposition, ranging from the proposed tax increases, the government mandting ALL citizens over 18 to purchase insurance or be taxed an extra 2.8% of their annual income, the wording that selective abortions would be covered, and the outrage over the amendment that Democrats threw out that was proposed by Republicans that citizenship be verified before individuals can receive Health Insurance by the Government. Many are opposed for the fact that government has never been able to show that it can be trusted to control anything. They argue that Amtrak, the Postal service, Social Security, Medicare, Medicaid, Fannie Mae, Freddie Mac and all other government controlled programs and institutions are billions in debt with fraud, abuse, mismanagement, and so on. Some are now pointing out the poor performance of the Government's handling of the H1N1 vaccine, as a precursor to how well they will handle control of our health care system. The real kick in the rear comes with the fact that all the tax hikes, fines, fees, penalties, and the $Billions in cuts in Medicare would start immediately if the Senate passes the bill, but the benefits won't go in effect until 2013. Many question this tactic of three years of taxing to just get the system started and no insurance for the uninsured until then. History shows that every program initiated by the government has always been under estimated, under funded and costing the taxpayers two to three times more than projected by lawmakers. With a projected price tag of $1.2 trillion dollars, One has to wonder how far off that estimate is, and just how will it be paid for when it doubles or triples!
