All of us must have seen icebergs at some time or the other – usually in the various TV cannels dedicated to Nature like the NatGeo or the Discovery. But, if anyone wants to see a real iceberg from up close, he should travel to New Zealand. An iceberg is approaching its shores – it is 500 meters wide and 50 metes high and is leisurely travelling at a speed of 2 to 3 kilometers per hour. It could be within visible distance in a few weeks time if it does not get diverted due to unfavorable ocean currents. In 2006, when a similar phenomenon occurred, special flights were arranged for viewing the iceberg from close quarters.
