The US House of Representatives passed Health Care HR 3962 barely with a 220-215 vote. 218 votes were needed to win by majority. A win counts as a win no matter how close the victory may appear to be. Here is the tally breakdown of the voting on the bill:
219 Democrats voted yea for the bill and 39 Democrats voted nay. Only one Republican voted yea for the bill and 176 Republicans voted nay.
Even though the Republican vote didn't sway the vote, many conservatives will investigate to find out which Republican went against the grain. Well, look no further. The lone Republican to vote for the bill is US Rep. Joseph Cao, a representative from Louisiana. Many are attempting to figure out why he voted for the bill. Maybe he did it just to make a name for himself. Time will tell because he will probably be interviewed plenty of times this upcoming week.
This is only half of the process because the bill must now go through the Senate.
