The GOP made a critical tacktical error Saturday night which allowed the Health Care Bill to pass the house. In an effort to convince the few Blue Dog Democrats needed for passage an ammendmant was proposed to restrict federal funds for abortions. One hundred and seventy six republilcans voted for this ammendment and sixty four Democrats. This cleared the way for those few pro life Democrats to vote in favor of the Health Care Bill. If the republicans would have not voted on the ammendment it would have failed. There would not have been enough votes to pass the Health Care Bill as it stood before the ammendment.
