CHITRAL: As rain continue of winter season and peaks of mountains received snow. The only land route connecting Chitral to other parts of the country blocked for vehicular Traffic at Lawari top during midnight of Saturday and Sunday. As Chitral once again plunged in sever cold weather. According to Pakistan Meteorological Department at Chitral some 11.00 millimeters rain recorded from 2.00 PM to 8.00 Am on Sunday. Tehsil Nazim Chitral Sartaj Ahmad Khan wile talking to APP told that the only land route connecting Chitral to other parts of the country was blocked due to snowfall last night (during midnight of Saturday and Sunday) for vehicular traffic as a result Chitral people once again plunged into whirlpool of problems. He said that some 5 inches snow recorded at Ziarat and more than this measurement at Lawari top. Besides it electricity supply also suspended due to continue rain and snowfall on mountains and Lawari top. While on the other hand sky touching prices have disturbed people of Chitral who badly suffering from chilly (cold) weather, continue rain, longest black down (load shedding), and closing of land route at Lawari top while essential edible items are also not available at local market. Sartaj Ahmad Khan have appeal to Provincial as well as Federal government for allowing Chitrali people to travel inside the Lawari tunnel and to supply here essential commodities through Lawari tunnel. He also appeal for immediate supply of 128 metric tones sugar to Chitral as quota have approved for this district but its supply is still awaited. Sartaj Ahmad Khan also appeal high ups of Pesco (WAPDA) for supply of maintenance equipments to Lawari top before closing it permanently so as enable GSO staff to repair broken poles and wires (cables) due to heavy snowfall and to restore supply of electricity timely.
