Sugar crisis continues in Peshawar

PESHAWAR: Sugar crisis continued in Peshawar as common man forced to purchase sugar at Rs.60 to 80 in contrast of some individuals who are getting sugar at control rate.

Director Food NWFP Abdul Ghafoor told Geo News that 30 percent quota of sugar on sale at control rate in Peshawar in accordance with Supreme Court’s decision.

He claimed that uninterrupted sugar supply is on for 30 percent control rate sale and 1200 to 1600 tons of sugar has been supplied on daily basis from Dera Ismail Khan sugar mills.

On the other hand, ordinary people still buying sugar at the rate of Rs. 60 to 80 whereas black marketing of control rate sugar is continued. Sugar dealers said government has failed to provide sugar at control rates.
