Every city has its share of urban legends and those in New York City include tales of encounters in the backseats of the local taxi cabs. However, that is not always the case with all passengers.
New York taxi driver Medhat Mohamed picked up businessmen and partners Erick Ruales and Paul Bruno. Like many couples the pair began hugging nd kissing after they entered the vehicle. Apparently Mohamed was paying as much or more attention to his rear view mirror as he was to where he was going.
After only two block Mohamed stopped and told the couple, "no hugging", and subsequently threw the couple out of the taxi. Bruno and Ruales have filed complaints with the New York Taxi Commission and the Human Rights Commission. Newly re-elected New York City mayor Michael Bloomberg called the incident, "a disgrace".
If Mohamed does not allow hugging in his taxi cab, he stands to lose a great deal of money. One has to wonder whether it was the hugging or the couple doing the hugging that Mohamed objected to.
