More Guns Less Crime

Now that the lame street media has made it’s best attempt to blame the horrible deaths of 13 of our soldiers and the wounding of 38 others on Post Traumatic Stress Disorder, let’s get one small fact straight. Major Malik Nadal Hasan was never sent into combat prior the yesterday’s incident. The idea that PTSD played a part in this cowardly rampage just shows you how the Left wants to shape & sway our minds about what actually happened.

First, they take their lead from President Obama who holds a press conference to warn against ‘jumping to conclusions”. A stern warning to the Lame Streeter’s about turning the story into a Muslim fanatic committing a terrorist act on American soil and killing innocent servicemen & women.

As expected, the Lame Street Media followed suit and tried to focus the story on the effects of PTSD on our returning soldiers. They have also tried to use the story as a spring board to accelerate the withdrawal of our troops from Afghanistan & Iraq. This is something that our Commander-in-Chief has found hard to do ever since he was told that an additional 40K troops were needed.

So in what appeared to be the perfect storm in making the case for withdrawing our troops from Afghanistan & Iraq, the media took the angle that best fit in with their goal and the one that simply provided another excuse for our President to do so.

If I chose to believe the mainstreamer’s version of the story, I can then make a case for civilians to carry around concealed weapons to combat this type of carnage.

Instead of trying to hide behind the veil of political correctness and douse all thoughts of Muslim retribution against American culture in this case, why not talk about the need to keep our Gun rights as strong as ever. Because if the media is going to sell all of us on the idea that this was some random act of violence and blame it on psychological stress or other factor, I want to be able to protect myself and the lives of others around me should this take place in my town, airport or workplace.

If the media wants to ignore the other side of the coin - that only the warped mind of a Muslim fanatic could enact this sort of anger and rage on our military men & women, then I want to be prepared to deal with the random act of a stressed out gunman by using force against force.

If it were not for the heroic efforts of police Officer Kimberly Munley who responded to the 911 call and shot down Hasan, the death toll could have been a lot higher. Had someone else in that Readiness center had been armed at the time, perhaps the death toll may not have been as high. Carrying a concealed weapon is not a guarantee, but it changes the odds.

If anything positive could ever come out of this tragic event is to highlight the importance of giving civilians the right to carry concealed weapons. This is a prime example of why the right to bear arms and carry a concealed weapon is necessary and a deterrent to this type of crime. Already many states have are considering enacting this law to allow for students to carry weapons on campus.

Perhaps if Hasan had known that anyone in that Readiness center may have been armed, he may have thought twice about it. No one would know this with any certainty, but by not allowing the right to carry a concealed weapon, the result would have definitely been the same.

Too often, innocent bystanders are at the mercy of these attacks with no way to defend themselves or those around them. Let’s not be swayed by political correctness and be allowed to make this story about something that it is not. Let’s not lose sight of our right to bear arms and the impact it may have when the next Malik Nadal Hasan decides to strike again.

I don't think more guns are the answer. Has anyone read this guys bio? Were 13 soldiers killed or 11? How long are you going to talk about this without knowing
what was happening? Perhaps Major Hasan thought it feasible to kill soldiers here rather than send them to Afghanistan to be killed - we don't know. Was the major killed?
Reply By Redhanded101 Redhanded101 | 13 days ago
Sheila,

THe number of dead is thirteen as reported by the AP, CBS, CNN & others. The killer was not one of th dead.

It is important that this stroy does not go away until all the facts come out. Right now you can call this the worst terrorist attack on US soil since 9/11.

You say:

"Perhaps Major Hasan thought it feasible to kill soldiers here rather than send them to Afghanistan to be killed - we don't know. Was the major killed"?

You have a very pessimistic outlook on things. I bet you that every soldier that is out on the battlefield right now disagrees with you. If they did not believe in war they would not be going out there.

so what pill are you prescribing Dr. Pollard? You've probably got a pill for everything.

You afraid of dying Redhanded? I don't have a pessimistic outlook - I just think those people should fight their own wars, after all, they've been fighting since Ishmael was born. Why should our soldiers join in?

I see the other side of the coin.
The heading should have read: "Fort Hood Massacre: Perhaps a Wake-Up Call for No Weapons"

If Hasan did not have such easy access to weapons, this would never have happened.
He bought himself guns at a store just before the incident. If he did not have access to so easily buying a gun, he would not have shot anybody to start with.

In my own country, crime is out of control. Most crime is committed by criminals who STOLE guns from LEGAL owners. Yes, legal owners have a right to defend themselves, but they should be more responsible with guns then. Buying a gun also takes many months of processing plus a competency certificate.

If guns did not exist, the criminals would have no target to start with. Their first aim is always to steal weapons. Legal owners never have time to respond and are always out-gunned or surprised by criminals.

And since this was a military incident, it only makes a case for the military personnel to carry a gun. Not the public.

Guns have only one purpose - they kill and maim.
Thousands of children are accidentally injured or killed in gun incidents yearly.
http://jsmithnews.blogspot.com/2009/09/children-toy-guns-and-real-guns.html
People should not be able to buy guns so easily.

Lastly. Of course it had nothing to do with "Post Traumatic Stress Syndrome". Although it may have to do with stress after trauma. Hasan was continually taunted and teased by non-Muslim colleagues about being Muslim and about going to Iraq. That is almost certainly the main reason he cracked. It seems that half the problem lies with people's intolerance towards other cultures and religions. That factor should not be forgotten either.

In the end it is about how we treat or respect others and how ridiculously easily any person can just get hold of a gun - nothing but instruments of death.

Even in countries where guns are outlawed for common citizens, criminals get them through the black market and use them. We have a situation where America's best, who have been trained to use guns in defense of all of us, are denied the right to carry them for self defense purposes on a military installation. The numbers killed/injured would have decreased greatly if some of the trained GI's were able to defend themselves. And can we please skip the "no guns are the answer" kumbaya? You're about a few hundred years too late to suggest that.
Reply By Redhanded101 Redhanded101 | 13 days ago
blueguitar,

You are absolutely right. Citizens should have the right to protect themselves. Far too often we forget about the victims and instead try to be politically correct in defending the accused.

How many more college kids or military men & women need to get shot before we allow for citizens to carry concealed weapons?
This may not guarantee anything, but I think it increases the odds survival for many.

Sheila, They make a pill for what you have, you may want to look into it, they also make something for what this jerk has that shot and killed 13 people it's called a needle.

Red, a80 has already posted an anti-gun article, he Copied and pasted most of your article. You know I can put up with most of their silly and lame ideas, but when they start talking gun control, That's where I draw the line.

I'm in agreement with allowing our forces to carry guns also. There is no Kumbaya no guns situation here. We lost men adn women that fight for our rights on a daily basis. As far as the president in my opinion he's an idiot that keeps making promises he can't keep. I feel that our solidiers should be allowed the right to carry concealed weapons on a base to prevent these things from happening and/or escalating if it should happen.

This is never ending issue
Posted By maipoo maipoo | 13 days ago

Posted By pollard pollard | 13 days ago
Your joking "right", this is really no issue at all. We have a right to bear arms, for all you folks that wish not to bear arms good for you. Then for heavens sake please don't.

If our soldiers were allowed to carry concealed weapons on base, the terrorist Hasan would be DRT (DEAD RIGHT THERE)In fact we hardly let them kill the enemy on the battlefield, get the dirtbag politicians out of the way and give them a real commander to lead them, quit putting them on trial for killing, which we train them to do and we would win this war.

Yea our commander in chief has the experience to lead them, after all he was a community activist. That should scare the turban off some heads.

It's only going to get worse, we teach our children and teachers to lock the school down and run hide. Let the teachers(who want to) pack some heat and the scumbag will think twice when going to do something next time.

I just don't see the logic behind "13 people were shot to death, 38 wounded--let's bring out more guns!"
Reply By Redhanded101 Redhanded101 | 13 days ago
Antonia,

It's not bring out more guns. It's about protecting yourself and those around you. What would you rather do in a situation like the one that happened in Fort Hood - Stand idly by maybe pull out your cell and try to dial 911 before the shooter kills you and everyone around you or reach for that same pocke and pull out a weapon and perhaps save your live and perhaps the life of others?

I'd take my chances with a handgun over a cell phone anyday.
Reply By Redhanded101 Redhanded101 | 13 days ago
Responsible people follow the Law only criminals break it. There is a difference between carrying a weapon for self defense vs using them to commit a crime.

I guarantee you that this sort thing would be put in check if people had concealed weapons.
Reply By SheilaReynolds887 SheilaReynolds887 | 13 days ago
You can't guarantee anything of the sort Redhanded - people used to carry guns all the time. no one learns from history. Only criminals break the law? Are you crazy - do you not remember seeing footage of the Rodney King beating. Do you not remember that many of our 'finest' government reps are under suspicion of breaking the law.? Yes, they are criminals but who woulda thunk it?
Reply By antonianoel antonianoel | 13 days ago
By the way, I just want to point out that I am in no way anti-gun. In fact, we've got somewhat of a small arsenal of them out back.

But I still stand by what I first said.

"Perhaps if Hasan had known that anyone in that Readiness center may have been armed, he may have thought twice about it. No one would know this with any certainty, but by not allowing the right to carry a concealed weapon, the result would have definitely been the same."

You are assuming Hasan was planning on coming out alive. I don't think he was. No one goes into a military base with an intent to kill people and expects to come back out alive. So I would say the killngs would have happened even if the people there were allowed guns.

Posted By pollard pollard | 13 days ago
I don't see logic behind killing 13 people either antonia. The best way I know to say it, is it's stupid to bring a knife to a gun fight.

So the lady police officer, who stop the murderer, do you think she would be alive today if she decided to leave her gun at home and bring just her batton. No she would be dead!!!!!
Reply By amalgam80 amalgam80 | 13 days ago
Yeah and she would also not be on duty if she left her gun at home. i don't think anyone is arguing to stop law enforcement from carrying a gun.
Reply By firesisle firesisle | 12 days ago
And when you're threatened with violent crime, and the police refuse to intercede? What then? I told them a man was on the way to my home to shoot us(my family and me) all out of the house. They said they couldn't do anything until something happened; they wouldn't even send a damned squad car.

In my state, I would have been within my rights to shoot him dead as soon as he set foot on my property; unfortunately at that time, I was without a hand gun, and swore I would never leave my family so vulnerable again. I was left to face him with a piece of electrical pipe when he pulled in my driveway. I "convinced" him to leave. I'm very lucky that he apparently didn't have my resolve, or I'd be dead today.

Law enforcement only enforce laws after they're broken, at which time you're dead or dying.

Just because firearms are illeagalized doesn't mean criminals can't access them. Killing people is also illeagal, but there is still premeditated murder. If someone wants to kill other people, they will find a way.

Good comment fire, I know exactly what your talking about, I would hate to shoot somebody, but before they harmed my family I'd kill'em. A Police friend once told me it's better to be judged by 12 than carried by 6.
Reply By firesisle firesisle | 12 days ago
Exactly, spot on the money. Things have gotten easier here in Colorado with our "Make My Day" laws... if you're on my property uninvited, and I can reasonably construe your presence as a threat to me, my family or my property, whether you are armed or not, I have the legal right to use deadly force for protection.
Posted By pollard pollard | 12 days ago
Famous Clint Eastwood line. Are you feeling lucky punk, go ahead make my day.

Here in Georgia we still have to shoot'em, then drag'em inside. They are trying to pass new laws. (I'm sure that will draw a comment)lol
