Today Verizons Motorola Droid & HTC’s Droid Eris are now available though Verizons stores and online. The Motorola Droid this will be Motorola’s second Google Android based phone. The Motorola Droid will have a 5.0 mega pixel camera with flash & auto focus, running Google Android 2.0 Mobile operating system, a slide out QWERTY keyboard, supports Wi-Fi, supports GPS, has a 16 gigabyte pre-installed micro SD card which is expandable to 32 gigabytes using removable microSD cards, a virtual keyboard, a 3.7 –inch widescreen WVGA touch screen, supports Microsoft Exchange email, supports Gmail and other Google applications such as Google Maps etc., supports You Tube and supports instant messaging. Below is a review of the Motorola Droid by the Los Angeles Times. Which in my personal opinion was not an in-depth review. The reviewer seems to constantly compare it to the Apple IPhone. And what people need to keep in mind when watching this is that the Google Android Mobile operating system is not the IPhone, even though in some aspects it may not be as intuitive as the IPhone. Another thing that the IPhone doesn’t support is open application development with the Apple IPhone. Apple Inc. has to approve of each application before putting on the Apple App Store. Also the reviewer says that he can’t put video and music on the Motorola Droid that’s not the case. You can put music and video on the Google Android handsets by connecting the cell phone via USB to your computer and dragging and dropping the files on and off your PC or Mac, this is how it is done with the T-Mobile G1, which I happen to own. I assume it is the same way with the Motorola Droid as well. The Motorola Droid will cost $199.99 with a two-year contract and is available now.
