Obesity: Actual Disease or Just a False Scare?

According to BostonHerald.com, a doctor said that Santa Claus sets a bad example...about obesity. However, the people had spoken out that the image of our beloved Santa should stay the same and not be skinnier. Now the real question is...is obesity just a scare like the H1N1 flu, or is it really killing people?

There are people that do not care about how fat people get, and there are people that grow worried about it. Some try to lose weight while some are just happy with the way they are. Technically, obesity is not really a disease but more of a lifestyle, like homosexuality; they are happy who they are and who they are with no matter what people think.

Somehow, people are taking things too seriously with people who are obese. There are airlines and restaurants that are trying to restrict people that are "morbidly obese" when they are only bringing back segregation that the U.S. had eliminated during the 60s. If this continues, we may end up having laws that would bring back segregation among people with weight issues.

If people are more worried about how fat Santa is, then why are people not as worried about the celebrities that practically starve themselves or just gained or lost weight for attention? In actuality as long as "obese" people are eating healthier foods or at least eating anything that is edible, they are much healthier than people suffering anorexia and bulimia. Then again, both sides do have health issues. Obese people have bone, muscle, fat, and cholesterol issues if they keep eating unhealthy foods. Anorexic and bulimic people suffer from calcium loss, fainting spells, dizziness, and not getting enough of the recommended nutrition.

Technically, the U.S. is going through three wars: the war in Iraq, the war with poverty, and the battle between skinny and fat.
