Dream Smile Dental in Canton, MA is proud to welcome their new pediatric dentist. Dr. Aurora Alva graduated from the world renowned Pediatric Dental Program at the Tufts School of Dental Medicine where she held the position as President of Smile, Care and Share; a unique program that combines oral health awareness with literacy.

Dr. Alva’s passion and knowledge for her profession is unrivaled. She has conducted and assisted with 8 research projects at both The Harvard Medical School and The Tufts Dental School. Additionally, she is the recipient of The Pediatric Dentistry Department Clinical Group Award (2009), The Colgate Bright Smiles Grant Award (2005), The Wellesley College Graduate Fellowship Award (2003) and The M.E.D.I.C.O Award for Humanitarian Aid (2002).

Dr. Alva commits herself to volunteer work to give back to her community. She has volunteered for both the Honduras and the Ecuador Humanitarian Missions by performing restorations and extractions in children. In June 2006, she performed health screenings for special needs kids in the Massachusetts Special Olympics. Prior to this, she conducted oral health screenings for elementary school children as part of the Colgate Bright Smiles Program. She also volunteered at the Peruvian Dental Fair by donating tooth brushes and floss, as well as educating Peruvian children and parents about oral health.

"Referring a child for an oral health examination by a dentist who provides care for infants and young children 6 months after the first tooth erupts or by 12 months of age establishes the child’s dental home and provides an opportunity to implement preventive dental health habits that meet each child’s unique needs and keep the child free from dental or oral disease." - AAP.ORG
