Poet's Corner: Acrostic Request For An Ode to Chicago

To stretch my poetic skill, allvoices user ladym33 requested for me to do an acrostic on the city of Chicago. An acrostic is a poem formatted in such a way in which the first letters of each line go from A to Z. This type of format was used by the great King David when he wrote some of his Psalms. For example, Psalms 112 and 119 are examples of acrostic poems in the original Hebrew text. So, I have some big shoes to fill. Fortunately, King David left the secret on how to become a spiritual force just like him in Psalm 109. Therefore, I am able to drop this cool acrostic request. Here it is! An Ode to Chicago! Let's go!

A city that is known as the best in the Midwest

By everyone except fo the IOC, which considered Chicago the 4th best.

Chicago, Chicago! Frank SinatraFrank Sinatra called it "My kind of town!"

Downtown, however, is the only place in the city you should go around.

Erratic bullets spray to make the city the world's #1 teen murder rate.

Frantic pleas from the residents to stop the violence has not caused crime within the city to deflate.

Gross actions by the Chicago Police Department does not make life any better.

Hallucinogenic drugs being pushed by gangs so that they can make some more cheddar.

I have many opinions about this city, but I am certain about one.

Losing minds to the grind; criminals placed behind bars with long rap sheets.

Opulent lifestyles on the Gold Coast are right next to the slums

Projects are filled with gangs, hookers, dope fiends, and bums.

Quiz them about life and you'll realize that they already have been through too much.

Reaching the age of 21 living in Chicago should be appreciated as such.

Sentence completion should be the focus for Devin HesterDevin Hester;

Testing him in interviews and watching him run away from microphones to shelter.

Ubiquitous signs should be placed around Chicago stressing pronunciation and education.

Victory can only be achieved by not being like the rest of the mediocre city population.

Xenon is what the people of Chicago should not be like: in an inert position.

You must do all that you can to help the Chicago community.

Zany times must move people towards walking in unity.
